Jersey General Hospital - Rozel Ward
Refurbishment of Rozel Ward: Enhancing accessibility and facilities in the Parade Block.
The project involved the comprehensive refurbishment of the existing ward situated on the 7th floor of the Parade Block. In order to carry out the necessary works, the unit was fully decanted, allowing for the refurbishment of the existing 8 bedrooms, 2 neutropenic rooms, an extra private room and the provision of a new kitchen, compliant accessible toilets, and shower facilities.
Each of the rooms underwent extensive refurbishment, including the replacement of the existing en-suite baths with new level threshold shower trays and low-level shower doors. Considering the spatial limitations of the existing en-suites, a new disabled-accessible shower room was also incorporated.
Furthermore, the project encompassed the provision of HTM (Health Technical Memorandum) compliant Dirty Utility and Medicine rooms. Additionally, the fire strategy was upgraded, entailing the installation of replacement fire doors to ensure compliance and enhanced safety measures.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 shutdown restrictions, the project was in progress and successfully completed. Consequently, the refurbished rooms were made available for isolated patient use during the COVID-19 isolation periods, ensuring the facility's ability to provide quality care during these challenging times.
